French Passport Refused? Challenge the Decision Effectively

If you have a French Birth Certificate, you are very likely Eligible to apply directly for a French Passport. In most cases, a CNF cannot be required by the authorities

Has a French consulate refused your passport or required a CNF?

Many applicants face:

  • unjustified CNF requests
  • administrative delays
  • passport refusals despite valid documentation

And this even when they are mentionned in a livret de famille and their birth certificates have been registered with the French Consulate. Some were even summoned to the French army or had French documents in the past.

Yet the French Consulates unlawfully frequently deny such applications, asking that the applicants produce their CNF. A document hard to obtain with can take up to 3 years of processing.

French law does not always require a CNF for passport applications.

In some cases:

  • civil status records are sufficient
  • refusals may be legally challenged

It of course recommended to avoid any passport refusal. Therefore we propose to take your application from the beggining to avoid issues.

Should the Consulate still deny it, we will attack the refusal in front of a judge.

The case law from the superior Courts of France is clear on that.

I assist clients with

  • application preparation and submission
  • following up for the application with the Consulate
  • analysing the eventual refusal
  • determining the appropriate legal strategy
  • challenging decisions before administrative courts when necessary
